November Happenings

Hard to believe Christmas is coming up...
I say this more often these days: where has the time gone?
Life goes so fast sometimes it feels like if you blink and you'd miss it.

Lately we've been working a lot! Deadlines for houses are coming up. I'v been doing touch ups on the houses and strapped on a carpenters apron for 2 weeks, due to workers taking hunting season off.

3 Rtm's moved this month and a built on site home completed.
It's been a BUSY month for Veela Builders.

Aside fr all the work, we received the coolest gift from a couple we admire.
A 10 ft tree of our choice, their time, and equipment!
Where to put a large tree on our yard and what kind!? Not everyday something like this happens!
We chose an evergreen and a spot near the barn.
Getting the evergreen
 Planting it
Going to get the skid steer to straighten the tree.
 Completed! And we love it.
Huge thanks to our friends for giving us such an awesome and unique gift.

So long October

It's looking like Manitoba has decided to go into winter. It was snowing yesterday and has been dreary and gloomy ever since.

A Hard frost crispified my flowers, and ended my canning season.
However, this weather has made me all nesty and homemaker-ish. And for a good reason. We are expecting!

 Have yourself a delightful Wednesday!

it happens every year

For being a summertime girl, I have to say that lately, I have again found myself totally obsessed with all things fall.
Around the middle of August, I usually start to panic knowing that summer will soon be heading south for the winter. But every year, I wake up one morning and just like that, I'm ready for fall.

Fall on the Farm

Oats needing to be harvested

 Preserving apples mmm... apple pie!

Fall everywhere

Makes me want to fire up the crockpot.
Wear a sweater.
Make a pot of soup.

Additionally, I have been a Fall pinning fool on Pinterest.
Here is a link to my fall board.
  Have a fabulous weekend!

From my kitchen

These past few days has had me busy in the kitchen with it being rainy, windy and cold from Thursday last week till today. By Friday the radio man is sayin' it should warm up. I hope... The rain was much needed though. I kinda always figure God made rainy days so that outdoor girls could get there housework done. My kitchen's not near perfect but it suits me fine. :) Below is a family recipe that requires no baking but is delicious! It's a summertime favorite.

Rickty Uncles
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup white sugar
1 cup peanut butter
Combine in a pot and bring to just a boil.
Stir in 1 tsp vanilla
Add 7 cups cornflakes
Stir until cornflakes is coated
Drop by teaspoon full onto a wax paper lined cookie sheet
Cool and Enjoy!

Everything Growing

The beginning of August was filled with nursing a sick horse, camping, and wedding decorating.
I can never get over how fast things grow once we get heat. In July, my garden looked pitiful and now its practically overgrown. God has blessed us with a bountiful harvest again this year!

Our dog Ace lives the best life :) I think anyway.

Stuart is BBQing for supper. He is the best!

My little sister came over for the week!

She's a darlin'

Stuart and I decided to move our fire pit area a few days ago and now he is landscaping to make it happen!
I'v learned that once he has his mind set to do something it doesn't take him long to do it. Even if I lost the keys to our skid steer the day before and he has to make a morning Portage run just to go pick up another set of keys. (Sorry Hun) He was good about it though. Gotta love him for it!

Rodeo

Threshaman's Stampede is an every year occurrence in Austin, MB. This past weekend was spent riding with the Austin Hick Chicks Drill Team doing grand entry performances and 1/2 time drill entertainment. Here are a few photos from riding to getting ready. These girls are my 2nd family! Love riding with them :)
